Oh, I like your theory. I had a few thoughts about what happened, but they didn't tie together nicely like yours does. I read some theories in the comments of the video on YouTube, but none of them seemed to fit just right in my mind. I think yours may be the closest. It's heartbreaking, because I know most of us wanted a happy ending for them. But it certainly is a thought provoking video! I'd love to hear what the actors and K.Will's thoughts are about it. Honestly, I'd really love to see a drama with them as leads and K.Will and Seo In Guk's music for the OST, but I suppose that's too much to hope for.
Thanks, Joanna! I would LOVE to see a K-drama with Seo In-guk and Ahn Jae-hyeon that explores this topic further...or a different theme entirely. Maybe we'll have to wait 12 more years though? lol
Having watched both videos, I think you're likely pretty close in your theories. I suspect the cracked watch does signify not only the date that the O.G. video was released, but also that Seo's character died shortly after Ahn's wedding (the reckless driving would seem to indicate a deliberate car accident, perhaps?). And that the reason, in the second video that Ahn's character has the outdated phone is because for Seo, that's where/when he last left his friend.
In my storyteller's brain, part of the reason that Ahn's marriage may have fallen apart and resulted in divorce is because of a latent guilt over Seo's death and his own complicated feelings regarding his sexuality. AND— that it's not in Seo's POV that we're seeing the fantasy sequence of them sharing a meal and walk, but in Ahn's— it's what he wishes he could have done (as evidenced by the fact that he's the one offering the bite of food) but that when Seo confronts him with his feelings and desire to share an embrace, he freezes because he's still not ready to face that reality—either about himself or about his inadvertent role in his friend's death.
Which is basically just elaborating on your theory.
This is all so spot on, Barb. Thank you for sharing! What comes across so strongly in both videos is regret...maybe for a change they wish they had made, and also for a change they couldn't.
Wow this was an excellent intro into those music videos. I wasn't familiar with this work from 12 years ago. I love that both of these videos look like they were made at almost the same time. Thank you!
The way the jaw dropped at the end of the first video!!! Was not expecting that at all, especially 12 years ago. Also, kudos to Seo and Ahn for reprising their role. I was tearing up watching the second and like you believe it was suicide. You could see that neither seem to be able to fully face their feelings. It felt like an entire drama played out in the 10 combined minutes of these videos. I love it.
You captured the essence so succinctly, Kendra. The impact of those 10 minutes is astounding. So good. Maybe in 12 years K.will will release a closer to the trilogy?

I'm so glad you went and took a look at how it all started! Thank you for taking the time to read my theories!
