Happy you mentioned Jinny's Kitchen. I haven't watched it... but I have watched Youn's Kitchen, which is honestly one of the best Korean anything I've watched. If I caught it without subtitles, I probably wouldn't miss much, because it's so ruminative—and as a watcher of cooking shows from childhood, the food porn never goes wrong.
Kang's Kitchen, though, is the complete inversion, and I love it too for that very reason.
Both of the series looks really fun and interesting to watch, and "Jinny's Kitchen" is on my list for a long time. I think i will give them a chance, since I really need a short but relaxing break! I have seen "Twogether" (Lee SeungGi's travel show) during covid, and it was also really fun. what do you think about K-travel shows?
I really like food and travel shows, esp. when they're focused on Korea/Korean elements. Have you watched Jung Hae-in's Travel Log yet? Although it's set in New York, I loved seeing his take on a part of the world that was foreign to him, but has been traveled by many of us North Americans.
(Tone: Sincere) They were great shows to watch! You summarized everything perfectly (as per usual 😎🥳💪🏻)! I’ve nothing to add save for that Jinny’s Kitchen S2 as much as I Loved it- it felt less focused on food & culture exchange and more focused on simply cooking for the ‘job.’ (Tone: Reflective) Perhaps because S1 was Pisces (mutable water = all about exchange) rising and S2 is Scorpio (fixed water = more about the internal process) rising.
[(Tone: Apologetic) Sorry for the astrology jargon- occupational slip!]
(Tone: Sincere) In any case! Thanks for sharing - always a pleasure to read! 💜🖤✌🏼
You know, I think you're so right! As much as I enjoyed S2 of Jinny's Kitchen, they were in the kitchen almost the entire time. S1, they got a day off to explore and enjoy the country they were in.
LOL. It was my total KPop era! (Before life took over). Somewhere I have a picture, autograph and CD or Album. I can't believe I completely forgot this. Now I have to prowl my house looking for all this! It's such a throwback! It's amazing the things that leak right out of the brain.
These look so cute. Thank you for writing about them. I need a break from the seriousness.
Thank you! They are stress relievers and are just so pleasant to watch. I needed them at this time, truly. 💙

I love those shows you've mentioned as well. There is something just so soothing about them that really holds my interest.

My review of that travel/food show is here: https://jaehakim.substack.com/i/142566547/jung-hae-ins-travel-log

Aw, thank you, Scarlett!

OMG I met Rain a million years ago in LA. I haven't thought of him in so long. Sounds like BBC's Hairy Bikers meets Korea. Thanks for the heads up!
Wow! Lucky! And you're so welcome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did/do. (I rewatch it regularly, lol!)
