Oooh. I love this! This is on my summer watch list. I always wondered where they'd found white actors for all those stilted performances. I've made up this entire scenario in my head, where producers trolled casinos for foreigners and just plopped them in.

😂 For real though, especially in the earlier days, I know of people whose husbands were "scouted" while they were on vacation. The husbands said no, because they didn't want their inability to act to be saved on film forever. haha!

Oh I feel like there was a shift of sorts when Daniel Henney was in My Lovely Sam Soon...

Thanks for that anecdote. Now my casino scenario doesn't feel so far fetched...

Daniel wasn't a great actor at that point. He was hired mostly for his looks. But he did a much better job than any of the VIPs in "Squid Game."

Oh! had no idea Sebastian Roché was in Queen of Tears— he's been one of my favorites for ages! And I hear you on the stilted white actors. I think one of the cringiest ones I can recall was the American baseball scout in Hot Stove League. *SHUDDER*

Ironically enough, I think the baseball scout was also one of the VIPs in Squid Game! LOL

Thank you, Joy! He gives everything his all and was so generous with his time for this interview... And he was on location in Mexico shooting his next project, so I know it was a hectic time for him!
