Gosh, I miss him. He was definitely a reason to be addicted to kdramas. I loved Master's Sun but now compelled to watch Oh My Venus again! You reminded me why I loved that drama - from his handsomeness, Shin MinAh's performance, the supporting cast of friends, all of it. Fun to go down memory lane of all the great SJS dramas!

OH MY VENUS is a favorite of mine. I remember being sick with bronchitis and being unable to sleep. I started watching this series and just binged. It made being sick bearable! And he is very easy on the eyes, too...

(Tone: Sincere) I have yet to watch 2011’s 오직 그대만 (Always) and hand over the tissue box for 2018’s 지금 만나러 갑니다 (Be With You). It was nice to see 소지섭 (So Ji-Sub) alongside 손예진 (Son Ye-Jin) since 2001’s 맛있는 청혼 (Delicious Proposal)– I know it’s super “dated” for some people, but So Ji-Sub already had otherworldly screen presence then! [Aside: I remember watching it parallel to 2020s 하이바이, 마마 (Hi Bye Mama), so…😭]

I’ve seen all the dramas and would assess them rather similarly. Personally, I struggle deciding whether I like 2013’s 주군의 태양 (The Master’s Sun) better than 2015’s 오 마이 비너스 (Oh My Venus)…that is to say I’m not sure whether it’s the flatness of Joo Joong-Won’s character in TMS 신민아 vs. the character typing of 신민아 (Shin Min-A) that I dislike more 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing So Ji-Sub in this year’s 광장 (Mercy For None)! (Tone: Grateful) As always- thank you for your amazing shares!! 💜🖤✌🏼

I enjoyed this batch of reviews, thanks. Particularly resonant was your mention of the shortcomings of series finales. I often find myself, in about the second half of the last of 16 episodes, wondering out loud to the screen: Wait, we’re running out of time, what happened to the assistant? Will the other guy go to jail? Is the sister-in-law going to inherit something? or whatever it is that applies to that series. Any thoughts on why the scripts are written this way?

I somehow overlooked your comment from last month! Sorry about that! I know that with shows that are filmed as the series is ongoing, they sometimes tweak things and/or add on an additional episode or two depending on audience reaction. But for the shows that are filmed in entirety prior to airing...I don't know! But yes, when it's down to the last 20 minutes and the drama flashes forward 7 years and everything gets all tied up... 😂
