Thank you for sharing this! I hadn't heard of Young Posse, so I wouldn't have seen this otherwise. I did have one question: are they speaking Korean in the short clips with dialog? I didn't think they were and assumed they were speaking Chinese, but then you commented that the Chinese comments on the photos suggested the slander had spread internationally. I was thinking the video took place in a Chinese speaking location. Do you think that could be the case?
Robin, after you brought this up on Instagram, I did a little digging. You are correct. "Cold" was filmed in Taiwan. The background dialogue appears to be Mandarin. I thought I had heard one phrase in Korean (이거). But in retrospect, I think she said 這個 instead.
My theory is it's the older brother, because when she is coming home from school as a little girl, you see her running to her father. First time around, I only focused on her. I didn't even notice the boy. But at the 2:11 mark, you can see him behind her. In the drawing that she made that she was trying to show her dad, it's of a family of four: mother, father, girl, and a boy. Later in the video (4:25), you see the boy holding his arm in front of the girl. She's crying, but he looks very angry (4:55). I don't think a friend would be that angry about what's happening in another child's family.
I suppose it is plausible that she could be an only child, and she added in her best friend (the boy) in the picture she drew. But I don't think that's what happened.
(Tone: Pensive & Processing) Thank you so very much for this powerful share– 🙏🏼 I watched the MV when I saw your Instagram story and it wrecked me– the ending especially. I’ve watched it 3x now and even though I knew what was coming my lips trembled & the tears still fall & burn, which is symbolically fitting given the astrological chart for the MV release- it has Chiron (The Wounded Healer) & The Moon (Emotions) (in a conjunction*) dancing in blue & icy flames in (low-vibe) ♈️, but I digress…
I think this MV has tied if not topped IU's "Love Wins All" in terms of powerful impact for me…there’s plenty to process regarding the themes you’ve mentioned– and Kdramas like 2021’s D.P. (S1 not 2), 2022’s 더 글로리 (The Glory Pt 1- not 2), and 2023’s 소년시대 (Boyhood) all came to mind…would you believe it? All of them have a ♈️Chiron/Moon conjunction like the release of Young Posse’s “Cold.” 🤯
Thank you again for this share & inspiring me to feel deeply & (when time allows) dive into an analysis of the dramas that came to mind! As always- grateful for you and your writing! 🤗💜🖤✌🏼

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and analysis of this video, the storytelling is powerful.
Thank you so much! I agree that the storytelling is very comfortable. They created a beautiful work of art.
Brother or childhood best friend? The ending really surprised me.

This music video is just a beautiful work of art. Everything from the storytelling to the acting is superb.
I enjoyed reading your analysis, and anytime K-drama references are included, I'm all for it!
